A booking MVP, mocked for a home-services marketplace
A concept MVP — browse, schedule, confirm — built to show how we'd scope and design a two-sided marketplace's first version in weeks, not months.
Context
"Home-services marketplace" is one of the most common MVP briefs we hear — a two-sided platform connecting customers with local service providers (cleaning, repairs, tutoring, and so on). We built this concept to show exactly how we'd scope and design that first version, and where we'd deliberately cut scope to hit a real launch date.
The approach
The trap with a marketplace MVP is trying to build both sides — customer app and provider tools — at once, plus payments, plus reviews, plus scheduling logic, in one pass. We'd scope the first version down to the single loop that proves the idea: a customer can browse real services, pick a time, and book one. Everything else — ratings, in-app messaging, provider-side tooling — is deliberately Phase 2.
What we built
A browse screen (service categories, listing cards) and a three-step booking flow (service, schedule, confirm), designed for a cross-platform Flutter build with a Node/Postgres backend behind it. All listing data, prices, and ratings shown are illustrative — no real providers or bookings exist behind this concept.
What this demonstrates
- Scoping a marketplace idea down to the one flow that validates it
- A booking UX that gets to "confirmed" in three taps, not seven
- The same fixed-timeline approach behind our MVP / 0-to-1 build service
