An operations dashboard, mocked for a small logistics team
A concept build showing how we'd turn scattered shipment data into one dashboard a small ops team actually checks every morning.
Context
A lot of the web work we get asked about looks like this: a small operations team — logistics, field service, inventory — running on a spreadsheet and three disconnected tools, checking each one separately every morning. We built this concept to show how we'd approach that problem for a new client, end to end.
The approach
We'd start with the same question every time: what's the one number this team needs to see first thing, and what do they do next based on it? For an ops team, that's usually "what's late" and "what needs a person right now." Everything else on the dashboard supports those two questions instead of competing with them.
What we built
A single-page dashboard: a KPI row (active shipments, on-time rate, open alerts, team availability), a weekly delivery chart, and a live shipment table with status colour-coding. Built in Next.js with server components pulling from a Postgres read model, so the page is fast even with a full day of activity loaded. All data shown is illustrative — this was never connected to a real operations system.
